Das Boot (Das Boot) is a classic of classics not only the biggest war film but also the highest peak among the submarine related films. The origin of sonar sound “ping, ping” is this movie and almost all submarine movies choose this sonar sound.
Actually, this movie was made six-parts TV mini-series, after receiving acclaim of the public, edited a 2 hours and 30minutes movie version. That was the most expensive movie in those days in Germany.
This movie depicts cool and finely one day before the departure to sailing back after complete mission. Wet and cramped up room, a cumbersome sound of depth bomb and detection sound of sonar, the struggle of the crew to survive in the lack of oxygen and odors trapped in a submarine and fighting with fear and the scene of submarine finally raising to the surface of the sea, without narration and revealing the plot, only with obsessed depicting daily life and battles of the internal space in the submarine, this movie which put out with intense images and messages created a realistic war movie. Particularly realistic last scene shows clearly anti-war.
